What is Plecanatide?
An acetate salt obtained by combining histrelin with acetic acid. The amount of acetic acid present can vary and a variable amount of water may be present. Histrelin acetate is used as a subcutaneous hydrogel implant for the treatment of prostate cancer and for the suppression of gonadal sex hormone production in children with central precocious puberty.
Plecanatide Benifits
Plecanatide is used in adults to treat chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC; difficult or infrequent passage of stools that lasts for 3 months or longer and is not caused by a disease or a medication) and irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C; a condition that causes stomach pain or cramps, bloating, and constipation.)
